The Endurance of Simple Things

Dressing well is only complicated if you let it be.

Recently, I have relied heavily on the simplest of things that keep me grounded -- tailored trousers, a knit top, my hair neatly done, and makeup that highlights the features of my face I am still learning to love.

Amidst the ongoing chaos that surrounds us, it is important for me to seek things that are stable and solid.

Many things in life are fleeting and temporary. But simple things, such as drinking tea, putting together an outfit, buying myself flowers, cleaning my space, watching a show I enjoy, feeding myself good food, and going after my dreams, because no one except myself can achieve all that I desire in life.

As mundane as these simple things are, they endure. Like sunshine after a storm, like the greenery of trees after harsh weather. Most things do fall apart to fall into place.

Spring is coming. It's expected. And things that are expected are mostly reliable, just as simple things are.

Warmly,

Grace Ellice May.
